The long-closed space at 319 Broadway, where Common Ground offered gastropub fare from 2014 to 2019, is expected to open soon with Donut Villa Diner.

“Donut Villa is a retro brunch restaurant that specializes in doughnuts,” said owner Erin Bashllari at the Select Board's Oct. 24 meeting. “The establishment will also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and includes vegan options and a full liquor license.”

7 a.m. to midnight

Hours are to be 7 a.m. to midnight daily. Bashllari initially had requested a 1 a.m. closing time but agreed to comply with Arlington’s standard closing time of midnight.

The restaurant can accommodate 195 patrons currently and eventually will also have an outdoor patio that Bashllari hopes will open in spring.

“It’s a family business. My parents are involved in the day-to day operations and make the doughnuts, and my wife handles the design and marketing. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry since I was 15 and am excited to be part of the Arlington community,” added Bashllari.

Donut Villa also has locations in Cambridge, Newtonville and Malden.

Select Board Chair Len Diggins, praising Arlington’s newest eatery, said, “This is certainly not your father’s doughnut shop! I love the names of the drinks.” Drink names include Jelly Donut Shooter and Drunken Pumpkin.

Board member John Hurd said, “I’m excited to see you move into this space. It’s a prime location for a restaurant. The casual dining menu, both food and cocktails, fills a gap in Arlington. This is the perfect type of establishment that my friends have been looking for.”
